I've put 2 pics in an album on my profile (since I can't seem to post pics.. anyone know why?) The one pic is not very good quality, but basically the whole back of my drivers side valve pan cover is coated in oil. Are these both something that the CCV mod will fix or is there something more to these leaks? Thx in advance everyone..
From what I can see in the pics, it looks like you CAC boots are pretty oil saturated. Besides the CCV mod, (RiffRaff Performance is coming out with a CCV kit that includes CCV doghouse o-rings) that will keep them from getting that bad. I would also recommend getting new spyder boots from Dieselsite.com that will hold up much better than the factory boots.
Here you go again Gregg. I do think doing the CCV mod will clean all this up. You may have another leak some where but it will be hard to find, untill you clean the valley up.
I use Simple Green, I spray it straight from a gallon jug with a washdown gun, (air gun). Then I get a paint brush and help the bad spots out. Then using a water hose, I spray the engine down with water. It might take a few times to get it like you like it. But it works for me.
The Miller Lite is optional. lol.
Not for me Chris. I don't spray the green stuff without my hugger (full).
Good man!
I also found that the tire spray stuff shines up the stuff real well under the hood. I use the Simple Green first then the tire stuff last. Once you get the first round of gunk off the boots and engine, it's easier to maintain the cleanliness. Yes, do the CCV mod.

Darn Chris, you are telling my secrets. lol. I use the tire spray stuff to.
Some people cover the power steering cap because of the small hole on the top. I take the intake hose with the filter attached to it off, and cover the hole on the rest of the intake. Don't spray water directly on the alt or ac. Other then that I get busy, way down in the valley and around the turbo. Have fun.
I cover the alt and the power steering units. And use a low pressure spray nozzle on the garden hose. Not one of those high pressure units. No need to force water into any crevices that don't need it.
