hey guys had some time to install my Boston Acoustics amp , capacitor and wire it all together, i have to say this thing kicks some royal butt.
i have Boston S85 6x8 front and rear, and they sound awsom with this amp, this is 5ch big beast .
ran wires from the speakers to the amp, rca's to the head unit
got to get me a sub box for deeper bass , i have 10" rf punch but the box is to big, so all i need is to ether make box or buy one..
Educate me Pete. What is it, and what does it do ?
the one to the left top is a distribution block, its just to reduce gauge and add 2 extra fuses for protection, the one on the right its a capacitor.
capacitor size is 1.2 farad, which is just about capacitance of the whole earth ( serious), what it does is stores a charge of electricity for large size of amplifiers with large woofers or subwoofers , when the Bass in your favorite song hits hard your lights wont go dim, the charge needed for this is drawn form this cap. this is a little protection for your alternator and electrical system.
i hope this is clear enough. im not that good in explaining things.... LOL
also the cap makes the bass hit harder in certain applications, the higher the voltage drop the peak efficiency of your amp drops too, making distortions and making bass sound soft and muffled.
one thing is about any stereo system is the bigger amp you have the better it will sound. putting small amps and cranking them up you working them at their max efficiency, risking a lot of distortions and damage to the speakers, large amp will provide you with more useful powerband with distortion free sound.
example
25w amplifier putting 20w of power to the speakers will sound worse than 200w amp putting the same amount of power , now at 25w you allready distorting sound , and 200w amp just smiles and goes on with clear and crisp sound
Whats the model number on that Pete? I used to have a car audio shop and thats impressive. I never messed with BA though. Everyone always wanted their quality on a Pyle budget...
