2000 expo weird starting problems
I have a 2000 expedition 5.4 4x4. I went out to start my truck and it did not fully start, it died. I tried to start it again and it died. The third time while cranking it I gave it some gas and it started but a puff of white smoke came out of tail pipe. My truck stayed running and was idleing fine but there was a rich exhaust smell coming from the tail pipe. I drove my truck to work and started it back up a few hours later and it was fine. Then it sat overnight and it would not start until the third try. There was no smoke this time, but the same smell. A few hours later it did the same thing again. Two to three hours after that it started up fine. Runs good while driving and idling. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Sounds like your valve seals could be shot and allowing an excess amount of oil to leak down into the cylinders. When the truck sits for a long time (like overnight) more oil is allowed to build up than when it sits for a short while.
