Oil lines, slowly leaking
The lines that go to/from the oil filter housing that dangle under the front bumper have a small leak. I think it actually is leaking by the metal fitting where the hose was attached to. Just runs slowly down the hose and dorps here and there. Not bad at all, no puddles at all, just a drop here and there at times.
Question I have, instead of replacing those lines, they look expensive and a pita to replace, can I use some sort of gasket maker and push it into the metal fitting where the hose goes into it?
I was thinking about using the stuff you can use on wires to make them waterproof. You can purchase that stuff in the electric area of most stores. Comes in a round bottle, looks like rubber cement like stuff. It's tacky and becomes really hard within in minutes.
I was thinking about putting it around the fitting and hose and letting it dry.
Only concern is would it eat the rubber? Will it continue to leak?
Thoughts/Ideas?
I might try the tacky stuff you use to make wires/splices waterproof. Just take that and push some into where the rubber hoses go into the metal fittings. Let it dry and see if it helps.
it has to be a pin hole size hole since it's not leaking really bad just kind of collect at the lowest part of the rubber hose and then when enouph drops.
