truck bed

have 86 f150 with styleside 8' bed.would like to put newer bed on say 87 /90 has dual tanks and am having trouble finding an 86.was hoping maybe a newer one would fit

Hi, the newer one will fit but you need the tailgate with it. Your 86 tailgate won't fit the 87 and newer bed without modification, and then the body lines are different. If you use the newer bed and tailgate you can't notice the difference in lines as they are all on the back end of the bed. The lines on the sides match up, it is only the rear corners that are different and the tailgate. John

I'm looking at newer boxes for my 84 too.

The lines around the wheel wells are different too but the fender flares I'm planning to install should hide that.

Hi, I have seen quite a few older trucks with newer beds on them and if they are painted the same color it's hard to tell if you put the 80-86 tail light in the bed It would be really hard to tell. the bottom line around the wheel well is different but not enough that anyone would notice unless they were looking to see if the bed matched the cab. The top body lines where you eye normally looks is as perfect as it get till the back corner and tailgate. John
