I have a 2008 F-150 with a dealer installed Ford remote starter. It has a 6 button remote. The question is about the steps for remote starting. I have to hit the lock button twice then the start button. This of course sounds the horn twicw for the two lock button hits then another for the remote start button hit and finally one more time when the vehicle starts. Is this a feature that can be programmed out? It seems ridiculous to have to hit the lock button at all when the vehicle is already locked. And to have the horn sound a total of 4 times in the process. I wouldn't mind one horn sound when it started.
I did take it to the dealer the day after I purchased it, having not been able to get it to start remotely according to the instruction booklet I received. I was then told of the procedure I mentioned above.
I had planned on calling the number for programming info in the booklet but bet I can get better info from this site.
Thanks in advance for any assistance in this matter.
That is a bit excessive to start your truck. It should just be 1 button and a second later the truck will start. I would think they could re program it but if not you can remove it or have a new remote start and alarm installed. They are are fairly inexpensive.
Yep...it can be programmed differently...mines just hold the start button for a sec and away it goes.... (by the way...to those who knew of my problem last week with it...it seems to have fixed itself...).....Check the programming manual for the exact steps
