Transmission linkage problem
I have a 1982 Ford F-250 and recently replaced both head gaskets, after putting it back together I tried to hook the linkage from the automatic transmission that tells the transmission to shift down when going up hills or towing something, back up to the carb. and it wouldn't move any. I had someone tell me to put it in neutral and it should move foward so if you know what to do I would appreciate it.

Transmission linkage
So on the linkage how will I know if it is turned around? Also will it be turned around on the outside of the tranny where the linkage is directly hooked to? Without the linkage won't the truck just take longer to shift down. Would it ever lock up inside the tranny? Thanks for your time!

Nah. It will shift ok, you just wont have passing gear unless you manually shift it. It could be in a bind with the shift linkage or throttle linkage. Just take your time and trace it back to the trans.
