Today I started spraying "tuff-stuff"(about $15 at Wall-Mart) on the inside of my pick-up, the cleaner almost worked too well(?). I sprayed the cleaner on my door-lock/window buttons and now on the passenger side, the markings are barely readable(but still noticable), and the drivers side looks untouched. Any very cheap ideas on how to remove those labels? The cleaner just wont work good enough to competley remove the paint. This is complicated further because this is inside the body.
Another question, since my old door panel is cracked real bad does anyone know what the price might be to replace it? I hope it won't be too expensive, if there is a junk-yard nearby, I'll search it for parts.
I use thinners in my shop. Soak label and let sit for a few minutes. Carefully remove with a razor blade. Remove remaining glue with thinners on a rag. Do a test area before using this method. If you start removing a bunch of paint I would suggest using a solvent such as what can be found in the paint department at Walmart (preferably your small local merchant though. He could use your money)
I have used a product called "Aircraft Coating Remover". Either spray form or brush on paste. Recommend paste because of spray possible getting on skin and cloths. I does burn your skin! With the spray, put on a generous cover and wait 45 seconds, or longer depending on number of coats of paint. then wash paint and remover off with warm water and a brillo pad is what I would recommend. I have done entire full size trucks down to the bare metal in 2 hours! No lie. And the sun makes it work better just do not let it dry on. The stuff keeps working till it gets to metal or is neutralized with water. I have purchased the stuff from Autozone or Advanced Auto for around 3.50 a can for spray which covers quite a bit or 4.95 for the paste. which can do even more area. And it gets to all cracks and creases, and does not harm metal at all.
Just follow the directions on the cans and you will be stripped down to metal in an afternoon.
