I'm working on replacing the blower fan in me 2002 F150 and I have removed all of the mounting screws but I can not drop it down far enough to get it out of the housing. It hits the floor board. Is there a trick to this or is this just a part that you need to force out of the housing or pull back all of the carpet and padding?

Thanks for the information. It is a lot of help, I was thinking that this would be required. Just hoping that I was wrong.
What a pain in the A$$ to replace a simple bolt in item.
I know this is a old thread but I was hoping I could ask a question on this subject. So you don't need to pull the dash to service the blower motor and fan? My Dad has a 99 F150 screw and he called me tonight and said when he turns the blower fan on his whole dash shakes. He said it sounds like something is stuck in it. I told him I'd look at it but I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the dash. Any ideas on this problem? Thanks for any help you can give.
I pulled back the carpeting & cut the padding clean. Put the fan & cage in, fitted the padding back, returned the carpeting to it's original place. This worked-after I struggled for hours tring to squeeze the motor back in with the padding preventing installation.
