After paint care, drying, wetsanding...

I just finished one body part and getting ready for the doors and fenders. They were all painted with PPG epoxy primer and PPG Pithane Ultra closs Urethane Enamel. So far so good, the outcome of the first part looks great.
The question is, how long should I wait to do any wet sanding and what grit should I start out at. There are two small spots to fix and it's not glass smooth but you have to look close to see. If I wet sand with say 600, am I going to screw everything up as far as getting a very high gloss finish?
I did some wet sanding years ago, but never finished off with the buffing, rubbing compound...

Do most professionals work the paint after it's dried, can you get a great finish with sanding, rubbing compound? Should I wait a few week to let the paint cure? I've heard about no waxing for 30 days but is this the same for wet sanding to get a better finish?
By the way, it's a solid black with no metalic flakes, just straight black.

Hi, let it dry for a couple of days then lightly wet sand with a sanding block and 600 then you should be able to buff it back to a shine with micro finishing compound Don't use rubbing compound as it is rougher than 600 grit paper. John

dry for a couple of days
you may want to go finner paper like 1200
wet just to knock the top peal off
then buff with rubbing compound and then
a finishing polish
what paper did you rub your primer with
320or 800 ?

Greg, I'm over forty but not fat that is for the forty ford pickup I have. lol but if you want to call yourself fat and forty whos to stop you??? LOL anyway old fashioned laquers are pretty much treated the same as todays urethanes just wet sand lightly with very fine paper and then buff with fine compound. I usually use micro finishing compound. The clear urethane is what gives me the most trouble seems like it goes on fine and when you come back it has a sag!!! just sand (wet) with 600 or 1000 grit then buff. John
