Rustproofing

Hi, I'm new to the site but i've been soaking in all of the info here for a few weeks now. So, i've finally made the move to buy a new supercrew and i can't wait to drive it home! I've picked one out and have to finish up the paperwork tommorow. anyways the guys at the dealership are trying to get me to buy this thing called a protec electronic rustproofing system. I've never heard of such a thing, have you guys? does it work? They are asking about $800 bucks for it. Any insight whatsover is appreciated. thanks!

Rustproofing

I haven't heard of that one, but I've seen two systems. One is basically an undercoating and the second is like they use on some boats where it uses electric charge to keep away rust. Both seem to work.

I'd ask to see exactly what it is, if it's some kind of painted on undercoating, I'd get it. You'll probably spend the same money having someone do it for you.

If you live in a 'rust unfriendly' area, you'll really thank yourself later, rust seems to get into the hardest to fix area first.

Rustproofing

Thanks for the info man! I did pick up my truck yesterday and i love it. The only thing I can think about is driving it. I did get the rustproofing, figuring since I'm in ohio and they always put a ton of salt on the roads i'd pitch in the extra money. I was able to talk em down $200 so that helped. Thanks for the reply!
