Aftermarket mirrors? Help!

My '93 F-150 4x4 is going to the body shop in a few weeks to get painted. I don't want to keep the OE manual mirrors (the ones with four bolts). Does anyone know if I can get mirrors that use just the top two bolts. I would like paintable mirrors much like the newer style. Would I be able to just cut off the linkage that usually enter the door and adjust by pushing directly on the mirror? Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to spend $2500 on a paint job and still have these ugly things sticking out of my doors! Thanks.

Aftermarket mirrors? Help!

You know, I thought I was the only one that ever did this mirror conversion. I went to www.autobarn.com and got a set of the better looking mirrors from a '95 f-150 and threw them on. I bondoed up the bottom two holes and sanded it down and painted it. Looks a lot better than the older mirrors, like you said. Also looks different than any other '88 since that style never had the smaller mirrors. A couple things you'll also have to do is cut out a hole for the mirror support behind where it mounts (about 1" square) and drill a hole inside the door where the support attaches. Just send email me at ryan356@mail.com if you need more details. It should be a pretty straightforward job. Hope this helps.
