My truck will start normally, a few seconds after it will start running very rough, the check engine light comes on, it has a significant loss of power. If you hold the pedal to the floor it will run about 30mph. This might last a couple minutes and then it goes back to normal. Anyone have this problem?
It could be your EBPV is cycling on. (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve). It's
supposed to aid in warming the engine faster during cold starts.
You can disconnect it and forget about it.
Here is the connector:
This is what it controls be sure the tang is in the closed position after it's
disconnected. If not wire it open:

Thank you for replying. I could not find any damaged connectors. I disconnected the EBR and tried both positions, and no change. The one consistency is that it starts normally and goes rough immediately. It goes back to normal after a couple minutes, and then back and forth at will while driving. I have noticed that pressing the brake when driving does correct it sometimes, which makes me think it's electrical.
still sounds like my uvch problem. when you were looking at the 4 connectors did you smell any burnt electrical smell?
when it happened to me it was intermittent at first but became more common after 3 weeks or so till it finally melted and wouldn't correct itself. usually right after i would start the truck, it would start to run really really rough with a cel on and no power at all. rpm's dropped to about 400 at idle. when it finally died i had to crawl home at about 20 mph. it was all i could manage with my foot on the floor. and the hill coming to my house was 1st gear at about 10 mph. when it happens again pop the hood and smell near the connectors. if one is burnt, melted or going you will smell it easily over the exhaust smell.
