This may or may not be useful information, Bill, but I'll provide it anyway just in case some of it does help you with your project.
I just had to rig up new fittings on my 7.3L tranny cooler to make room for the taller 6.0L IC I installed, but I was short on time and did not get any pictures so i'll try to describe it clearly. I'll post a pic of the top view of my project this evening.
Basically, I did what another member here did...
1) kept the cooler in it's original mounting location
2) bent the soft tubing out of the way
3) a) on the billet fitting that sits at a 45° angle, I cut the metal tubing prtion off, tapped it inside with a 10mm x 1.25 tap and used red (permanent) thread sealant on a 10mm x 1.25 x 3/4 inch long bolt to permanenetly plug that opening.
b) I then drilled and tapped into the top of the billet block to install a new hose barb. While drilling this hole on the drill press, I had my son holding an air compressor nozzle into the other tubing so that the positive pressure would expel shavings upwards and keep them from getting inside the cooler as the drill bit made its way into the billet block cavity. I believe I used a male 1/8" MIP by 3/8" female coupling to join up with the 3/8"x3/8" male NPT hose barb. Again, I used the red permanent thread sealant.
NOTE... without the thread sealant, even though the cooler is aluminum and taps/threads easily, it will not seal and will ooze at the fittings. You probably don't need to ask how I KNOW this.

I saw about the same results with the addition of my TruCool 4739. On cooler days, the guage stays on 100*. Never goes over 180* when towing in the summer and usually stays around 160*.
how much of a drop in temp did you see with the tru-cool and is it the same size as the 6.0.
I would get to 190 towing with the stock cooler. After installing the Tru-Cool cooler, the most I have seen yet is 145* towing. I think it works as good as the 6.0 cooler because of where it is installed.
I also have the Tru-Cooler. When towing I would see 180-190. With the Tru-Cool I never got over 165 even when pulling a grade. For the money and how simple it was to install, thats why I got it.

Decided to mount it in the front of everything. Had a good friend of mine make a nice bracket and painted it black. Then I found out that the grill won't go back on. I think I can cut away some of the plastic from the back and it should fit. I will try to get a picture but I have a broken truck and I am supposed to be moving this weekend.
Inside the black square is the connection where the stock oil-to-air cooler returns to the trans. The TruCool is plumbed in a series into this connection. One end is spliced into the hose from the stock OTA cooler and goes into the TruCool and the other hose from the TruCool connects to the steel return line that goes to the rear of the trans. Hope this makes sense.
No. There should be a hose with a clamp at this connection. Look at the steel trans cooler line connection between the lower radiator hose and engine pulley. Did you buy the installation kit with the extra hose, splices, and clamps?
