Weird Electrical problems

I posted a question a couple of weeks ago about the power door locks on my '02 Explorer and got no replies. Since then, I've noticed several other weird electrical oddities that may help to diagnose the problem. <O</O
<O</O
My original post indicated that my power lock on the driver’s side will not work when the key is in the “Off” position. When the key is “ON”, it works just fine. The passenger side works always. I use the key fob to lock the door and that works fine as well. It seems to just be that one switch.>><O</O

Here are a couple of other things that I have recently noticed. When attempting to unlock the door with the key pad on the driver’s door pillar, the alarm goes off when I hit the “3” key (a problem since my code begins with 3.) I can unlock the door while the alarm is sounding. Also, as soon as the key is turned to the “Off” position, the radio immediately shuts off. It used to stay on until the door was opened.<O></O>

Would an open ground or other short cause these problems?

Any ideas? <O></O>

Thanks!!<O></O> <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

I'm having issues with our 03' right now. The drivers door lock/unlock switch doesn't work at all. Tried a new switch and still doesn't work. The door ajar light also doesn't go out and thinks the door is open so the interior lights stay on. Its going to the dealer soon as I'm about ready to dump the Explorer in the river. It has been nothing but problems for a long time no more Explorers in the future for me.

Got the Explorer fixed. The wires going from the pillar to the door were broken at a spot. I pulled the boot to the side and didn't see any broken wires when I looked. Evidently the wires were broken close to the boot and I didn't see it. You would think Ford has been building vehicles long enough to use finer strand more flexible wire but thats appartently is not the case. Over $230 pissed away on something that shouldn't have happended.

This is a common problem which I have covered numerous times in the past 3-4 yrs.

Door locks, windows , first place to look is wires in accordion, mostly on driver door. Fix is to add about 2" to the broken wire to allow some slack when door twists wire bundle.

I have 8 extended wires in my 97 and 4 in the 92
