I have a 6L that just turned 114k. The other night I was going up a steep grade and could not gain speed. No smoke as I could tell b/c it was at night. The next morning it ran just fine. I checked the DTC codes and found P2262 (no boost detected-mechanical). It seemed to run fine except this morning when I went to start it up and it wouldn't start. It got kinda cool overnight, around 50F. I looked under the hood and found the Air Filter Restriction guage was broken off. I also took the airfilter housing and elbow off. I can't understand why it won't start.
I tried several times and when it tries to start, it blows out black smoke. So, it seems to me that it is not getting air.
I changed the fuel filter(s) the other day and have driven a couple hundred miles since then. I also cleaned the air filter as well. I keep up on all the maintenance and the truck runs strong. It just drives me crazy that all of a sudden it isn't reliable.
Anyone have any suggestions or answers as to what to look for??? <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->
Check the oil level, check the upper filter housing to see if you're getting fuel in there,
then check the lower fuel filter to make sure it's full seated. Hopefully it's something small.
its an 04 dually. I changed the oilabout 3k miles ago, and just change the fuel filters and cleaned the air filter. I do not have cats or muffler, banks ram air kit and superchips programmer (performance tune). Thats all, and like I said, it has been running fine, boost, mpg, acceleration, etc.
Sounds like a high pressure oil system concern or a fuel concern to me. Pull the fuel filter off, turn the key and verify that fuel is flowing, if not, your problem lies in the fuel system. Also, verify you can hear the fuel pump running. Pull off your intake, spin the turbo compressor wheel to make sure it spins free. If that doesn't work, then you probably have bad injectors, or a high pressure oil leak. Let me know what you find.
