Timing question.
I have a 1977 F150 4x4. 351M engine mildly modified, 4bbl holley truck avenger and eldelbrock intake. RV cam i think .480 lift or so. hedman headers, I was just wondering what the timing should be set at for best performance. It is at about 18 degrees btdc for base timing now but wonder if it should be more w/the camshaft i have. It seems to backfire through the exhaust at heavy throttle above 3000rpm but is just about perfect from idle to 3000rpm. I have put a carb kit in it because it was all gummed up from sitting for almost 5 yrs and cleaned out the fuel system and carb. just wondering if I should start playing w/the timing or what you guys think?
