Abs Light is On

My abs light is on and i don't know what cause it i just had my brakes replaces and they say I need some rear rotors

My 99 explorer did the same thing. As long as the light is on the ABS will not engage. In other words you will just have regular brakes, so you may have to pump them to stop quickly under certain conditions. My problem was a faulty ABS sensor which is located in the center of the rear axle on the top (IIRC). I read on here that you could try cleaning it (sometimes metal debris will mess with the magnetic sensor). I replaced mine with a part from Autozone and the light went off. Its a cheap and simple repair (1 bolt and 1 wiring harness).
