Ball Joints

What is the best way to tell if your ball joints are in need of replacement? 2WD drive

Jack it up, put your hands on the wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock positions and try to move the wheel. If it moves, you have bad ball-joints.

If you put your hands on 9 and 3 o'clock and move the wheel, you can test the tie rod ends.

You might have someone look to verify that the play is in the ball joint and it's not just a loose wheel bearing. If it has over 100k, they are questionable.
