Jessicas tale, the story of a dead truck

Random Thought
We have to get the motor to turn in order to unbolt the converter from the flex plate.
I guess we could pull the pan when the motor is rigged up on the hoist and find out what is binding and free it up.
Even if the trans and motor come out together (which would not be too easy) the problem will still be getting it to turn, and it would be easier to do that while the thing is still in the truck than it would be with both of them laying on the ground.

It looks like crystals at the top of that photo, but I've seen varnish sorta' look like that, too. But given the clean look of the head under the valve cover, I kinda' doubt it's varnish. Does the stuff feel gritty?
Sugar can caramelize on the cylinder walls, and eventually gum up the ring lands from being scraped by the rings. Eventually, the rings (and thus pistons) will seize. Then, either the pin will pull out of the bottom of the piston, or the rod will break somewhere.
Was there anything that resembled jello in bottom of the the pan?
BTW, your first mistake was using a PH-8A. At any rate, cut that sucker open and look at what's trapped inside. There may be a BIG clue inside.

Cummins swap Brady! Do it - do it!
As for not leaving a car out in Irvine - this is why I chose to live in Costa Mesa. They are the most lenient city around here about stuff like that, however they are now starting to crack down on even cars that are currently registered but left out front and not driven for a long time. It KILLS me!
