For tranny? Must be on older truck? Newer stuff is all cable or electronic.
They control the shift point of tranny by reading vacuum signal(WOT=no vacuum so it shifts later. HI vacuum= shift sooner). Usually not much to go wrong, and usually just the rubber line going to it fails and causes shift issues.
