Well, in my opinion. Cars and trucks built after 1990 are pretty much garbage extually from the mid 80s, they are disposable tin cans that are not meant to last for more than 10 years. I meant cars can't take a 5 mph bumper to bumper tap without costing $500+ to replace a crappy plastic bumper. I say this across all brands. If you want a real truck, find you an early 70s ford, they are built stong and won't let you down when you need them the most.
all the new style f150s are doin the ust thing up here in NY. my cousins meticoulously maintained 98 has been painted 3 times under the doors and tailgate! he is pissed about it. its the reason i wont buy one. the expeditions are doin it too
I have just noticed the same problem with my 00 Expedition - rust on the bottoms of all 4 doors. I have an appt. with my local dealer to see what can be done about it and if I can beg them into eating some of the cost (since my warrranty has expired). I will post an update once I meet with the dealer.
Originally posted by fordfan4fun well it wouldent be ford without rust i have a 1968 chevelle ss all orginal (i.e no rust, bondo) pretty much a daily driver chevy like a rock....
Then you're one lucky camper. Every 66-69 Chevelle I've restored has been rotted in at least one of several areas. These include the rocker panel, rear wheel opening, inner & outer wheelhousing, several different locations in the rear quarter panel, trunk pans, lower rear window, and floor pans just to mention the common areas.
Fords are like Chevys, that are like Plymouths, that are like Dodges. Rust is going to happen. You can delay it but you can't stop it.
