First is flakey compass readings. On most occasions, my compass will read the same no matter which way I am headed. Sometimes it will not even come on, other times it works perfectly........No amount of button mashing will change anything........
Any help???
Next.....my goofy sister-inlaw was 'helping' my wife back between a shed and some farm equipment. Unfortunately, the wife scraped a roto-tiller handle bar and made a 6" long scuff in the back door about 1/8 wide down to bare metal. I was content to put Ford touch up paint in it. However, it keeps falling out on its own, sometimes I find it on the running board in a tooth pick size. I have painted all kinds of things for many years but this is a new one for me.
I would suspect you need to calibrate the compass. I don't know the procedure, but it would be a simple place to start. If that doesn't cure it, then it would be time to look at the power.
Pick up a touch-up kit, GM has a nice one, and I think duplicolor has something similar. They contain a fiberglass brush, some primer, a clear and wet sand paper. I'd suspect the adhesion issue is there is an oil base in the crack, the fiberglass brush will do a good job flicking out any debris and roughing up the surface. A little rubbing alcohol will take care of the oils.
My over head does the same thing... I read that the terminals are not soldered very well from the factory and pulling the over head console and re soldering it will fix this. On that I haven't attempted to fix mine as I have never had a compass in previous trucks and I am to the thinking that upon removing the console I will end up breaking at least one of the clips and will have problems ithe it rattling so I have left it alone till I start to have other problems
