question about a strange vibration

I have a 2000 V10 F250 4x4 and I have a question about a strange vibration that only happens when I am going between 44-47 mph. If feels like it is coming from my front end, maybe something to do with the suspension??? Its like I am driving on a slightly bumpy road, but I am not. It only last a few minutes because once i get up to 50 (or slow down) it goes away. A passenger would probably not even notice if I did not say anything, but it kind of annoys me.

Does anyone have any ideas to what it may be?

THANKS

have you "touched" anything as far as suspension/steering components?
aftermarket stuff? or is everything bone stock

I had that happen on an 04 Taurus and it was just tire wear. I know there is nothing the same between your truck and a Taurus, but it was pretty much the same thing, although I also got a lot of road noise as well. Replacing tires did the trick - also you could rotate your tires to see if the problem follows the wheel, or not - if it does, it could be the tires or balance issue, if not, at least it was free and you eliminated the wheel/tire as the problem.

I just got the truck about 2 weeks ago....everything is stock. I was wondering if it could be some type of tire issue (alignment?). But the tires are fairly new and have no abnormal wear.

I'd try rotating the wheels/tires just to eliminate them as suspects. It could be a balance problem. Maybe there is a wear problem that isn't visible, yet, but will be apparent with more wear.

I bought my 2000 4w/d crew cab long bed from my brother about six weeks ago. He said that the alignment rarely needs adjusted. The truck has over 260k on it now.

Tire wear is good, ride harsh, mileage sucks, 9.8 mpg since I got it. Around town usually empty.

It is after all a truck, not meant to be a daily driver.

Check the inner spindle needle bearings where the axle stub rides.

With the hubs unlocked, reach around the front wheel and turn the u-joint by hand. It should be somewhat hard to get moving, but once moving be nice and smooth and not gritty or ratchety.

What happens is while driving, the needle bearing spins in relation to the axle stub. When the needle bearing gets dry, it can lockup to the axle stub randomly and cause a vibration, especially when you go over bumps.
