alright so the brake light on my trailer are not working but every other light on my trailer and my ranger works. i checked the ground and the bulb and they all seem to check out. any ideas on why its not working? my next guess is the fusebox, but i cant find the fuse for the trailer.
Do the turn signals on the trailer work? If so the problem is in your truck. The trailer only has dim light or bright light for each side. It uses the bright light for both brake lights and turn signals.
As to fuse location, it would help to know what truck you have.

sorry, its a 94 ranger. when i turn the lights on(head and tail) the two bulbs in both the box's light up. when i press the brake, nothing happens, doesn't get any brighter, i get no response to the turn signal ether.
On a Side Note
all the lights on the ranger are working like they should.
Does your truck have Amber rear turn signals, or signals that use different bulbs than the brakes? If so, there has to be a converter box and those tend to fail. Follow the wires from the trailer plug on the back of the truck and see where it goes.
Also, have you checked the plug with a test light?
Work on the turn signals not working. If you get those you will have brake lights. If you have a trailer tow set of fuses check those. If not then my guess would be the plug
Need to get under the truck in the back and see where the wires run. Check connections, check wires to see if any are broken. If everything looks OK then replace the plug, they are not very expensive but you need to know if that is the problem before you go throwing even low price parts at it.
i finally got around to look at the truck, i bought a replacement plug thinking "hey this might work", nope.......it didnt. still the same problem, 1 out of the four work. but it narrowed it down. i checked the fuse box and it doesn't have any fuses in it about a trailer. so i followed the wires the best i could to the engine compartment. but i lost it as it was going up through the wheel well (it was grouped with the other wires in my truck). Any ideas?
The 94 Ranger did not have a factory trailer adapter so there are no factory fuses to check.
The 94 Ranger DID use a two bulb system (one amber turn and one running/brake lamp per side).
Most likely, there is a converter box plugged into the harness as dchamberlain suggested and it has failed. The converter box should be between the flat four-lead plug and the T-connector where it was inserted into the OEM vehicle wiring harness.

ya i replaced the entire thing. from the T-connector to the converter to the plug. and still one out of the four work. i dont get it!

Since the plug-in "tee" picks off the brake, turn, and running lamp signals at that point and the vehicle lights presumably work, then either the replacement is defective or it's the wrong one.
