It's a beautiful day here in Nor Cal. So figured a little spring cleaning on the F-350 was in order. I removed the inter cooler tubes to clean them. It took a putty knife and Simple green. What a PIA. Then I got the bright idea, " Hey, they're off, might as well paint them." I painted them a pretty red (I know....Typical fireman). They came out great. Then it came time to reinstall. The drivers side went right on. Only one little scratch. The passenger side on the other hand. OMG. The top boot was a cinch. The bottom boot, you have to be a contortionist with skinny arms. I removed the coolant catch tank to gain access. That made it a little easier. I got it all back together and went for a test ride. First the top boot on the passenger side popped off with a loud thud. Pull over fix it, get going a gain. Things are going good. I put my foot into it and.....POP!!! This time the bottom boot, and me without my ladder. I finally got it all together, and it looks real good (and stays put, now). Who knew paint was so slippery. Now it's time to do the CCV. I've seen how a couple of people here have done theirs. I'm probably just going to copy one of those.
Thanks for listening to my rant, and thanks to all of you who have helped me the last couple of weeks.
99 F-350 4 door dually, 4" exhaust from turbo, SuperChips programmer, 6637, and Pete's cover is in the mail. ( Thanks Pete).
Ok Guys here it is. It's not as clean as some of the ones that I've seen, but it's better than before. Now I want to go with a blue intake tube. Pictures by MX_Fyrcaptain - Photobucket
The 6637 fits fine. I had to relocate the battery just a hair. I put it on about a 45 and the filter fits in right behind it. The battery actually helps hold it in place. I still want to replace the entire intake, but I'm not sure about the piece that is next to the turbo. It appears to have some sending unit ( mass air?) attached. Any ideas?
