My rear driver side leaf spring bracket is broken free from the frame and is pushing up on the bottom of the bed. My problem though is that the frame is rotten at this location. There is literally nothing to reattach a new bracket to.
I would most appreciate suggestions how to restore the frame so I can reattach the leaf spring bracket and the bumper bracket. Is there a connection of the rear frame section that would allow replacement of salvage yard part? A schematic showing attachment points would be helpful. Thanks.
i would suggest getting a cut section from a truck at a junkyard and welding onto yours where the frame is good, how far forward you go depends on the shape of your frame, id pull the bed, cut out the bad section, butt weld the new section in (on both sides of the frame rail) grind the weld down flush , then weld a peice of steel over both sides of the joint. when done wire wheel everything and use a rusty-metal primer and some undercoating. look over the rest of the frame real good to see if you have more issues than just the one.
