This is on a 94 Explorer XLT 4x4.I read all the threads on this and i plan to remove the bracket/crossmember and replace the rivots with bolts and nuts.
The question I have is what to do with the front axle.Leave everything including the tire on the ground or support the axle on a jackstand or support the frame on a jackstand.I have dealt with this stuff on fullsize rigs but I was always doing more work so everthing got removed, this is my DD and I need to be quick so I can drive to work the next day.
Thanks for any help in advance.
Oh geeze, I haven't done it for a while but I think I just left all the tires on the ground and didn't need to do anything with the front axle etc. If it was up higher it would be easier to remove the nuts from the radius arms but once you turn them a few times you can just use a 1/2" drive rachet (at least on mine).
I think I used Grade 5 bolts but some recommend Grade 8. Mine have held up just fine.
