Stepside Toolbox Woes

So I finally made it out to the store to look at my two final choices for toolboxes, camlocker and UWS. UWS was $223 and cam locker $319. I made up my mind I was going to get the camlocker, when I ask the salesperson what size I need, he tells me a 63 inch. Of course camlocker doesn't make that size. So now by default I have to purchase the UWS. He didn't have a camlocker in that size in his catalog but they have a one year product satisfaction guaruntee they enforce, so if one were to become available I could trade in my UWS and upgrade for the difference. He is correct though about there being no 63 inch camlocker?

I felt your pain a couple of years ago. It seems that finding a toolbox for a stepside is next to impossible. After about a year of searching, I was almost forced to get the UWS. It is expensive, I think I paid about $220 for it. I have been really happy with it though. It is light weight, and pretty tough.

Anyway..to answer your question...during my search, I have found 2 boxes that fit the flareside...UWS and and some off name plastic box. Given those 2 choices, I went the UWS..
Good luck!
Mike

I was really set on the camlocker, due to the locking mechanism and ease of use. I also like the carpeted interior. But UWS was my second choice, and 223 is not that bad. The sales person told me had actually carpeted his UWS with some marine or auto carpet. I'm a firm beleiver in seeing products in action, and living in the south and the amount of driving I do, I see a lot of UWS toolboxes on trucks. From farm country to the city. Seems to be the box of choice, so hopefully I won't be disappointed.

I got my UWS box while I was stationed in SC. One of the guys I worked with had one and had nothing but good things to say about it. I also carpeted mine. I bought some marine carpet and lined it. I've had it one a little over a year now, and have no complaints.
