My hood on my 68 F-100 is a bit out of shape. It wasn't closed good one day when i went over some railroad tracks about 50mph and it bent on the top of the cab. I pushed it back down and I've bent it back to near normal pretty quickly and easily. But it's not quite right still. Instead of being rounded like a dome shape I guess you could say, it's more like a straight line. It is depressed about a half inch lower than the cowl and the sides stick out a bit behond the fenders. Is there anyway I could bow it back into shape? Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
All right, this is only a thought, how bout a ratchet tow strap around the hood, crank it down and see if it starts to pull the sides in. Like I said..only a thought.
Thanks for the reply. That's an interesting thought you have, hadn't occured to me. I'll see about giving it a try. I'm not sure how it would work, my concern is that the top of the hood needs to be pushed up some while the side come in, not sure if it would allow it to go up. But, as they say, only one way to find out. I'll post back when i know. Thanks.
I bought a 4" suction cup from Harbor Freight for about $4 and used it to pull some body parts out. It's the type of thing they use to carry glass and it can be pretty strong.
I'd clean the surface and apply the pulling cup to the low part and start pulling, then work around the low area.
You might need some force holding down the other areas of the hood while you do this.
