I found a local company here in Phoenix that does sandblasting and beadblasting. As well as some other services.
I made the mistake of looking to see how bad the rust was on/above my drip rails, and inside the cab, happily hiding behind the headliner.
I haven'd had the work done yet, but he quoted me $75 to blast my drip rail / roof edge area. I tried cleaning out the rust on the inside on my own, but I just cant reach some areas due to the bracing and curved areas.
I know this isnt a permanant fix, but its a start. Maaco wanted $800 to cut and weld but made no comment about how good it would look or what they would do about the rust. I asked, he moved on. And thats just for the metal work. Nothing else.
So...this will be the begining of me fixing someone else's lazy work on the truck (they bondo'd and painted it over).

I will upload some pics to my gallery. I can't get to them at work. Stupid webfilter.
Ive always blasted or used POR 15, I like that stuff. And sometimes its best to cut it out and start over. Navel jelly is an option that ive seen used in boats in AK, it seems to work.
The hard part is, there is rust that you just can't reach with out opening the thing like a tin can - thats why I'm going with the bead blasting option. Figure it will knock off the big stuff and the rust converter will take care of what wasnt hit.
I bought some of the rustoleum brand stuff, but on the directions it warns "May cause rust on non rusted metal". Is this something I'm going to have to worry about at all?
My plan was to have it blasted, spray the hell out of it with rust converter, spray the hell out of that with primer, followed up by some paint.
The outside will get more proper attention.
Can you use POR15 (specifically) with out worrying about the non rusted metal it hits, rusting due to it?
Hear is a good article explaining the how whys and what for's I dont use the prep stuff this guy does but the better the prep the better the end result. Sorry its not done on a ford.
