hey, I live in CA and I got a fix-it ticket for window tint on the front windows and no mud flaps. I took off the tint to get the ticket signed off. Thing is the truck looked much better with the tint and I was wondering if I did end up getting another ticket for the same thing if it goes on my record as a moving violation? The mud flaps don't look too bad but I really miss the tint up front. Anyone had a similar problem?
According to this, you can go as dark as 70% on the fronts and as dark as you like in the rears. There is also a medical provision, so maybe you can find a doctor that agrees you should have 30% tint.
As far as moving violations, it's going to vary state to state.
Most states required the officers to have the proper test equipment to issue tickets. If the County/city can't afford to outfit most of their officers with them, they usually don't bother ticking something that will get defeated in court.
i have had a couple fix it tickets, one for my no cat/glasspack exhaust the cop got me cause his window was down and i was louder then the other cars, the second one was for a high beam out on the linclon, never fixed them
In CA it is a fix-it ticket as long as you don't **** off the cop. That chart is deceiving because the section actually reads different and there is case law here that says a cop does not need a light meter to write a tinted window ticket, if he thinks it is to dark then it is to dark. Section 26708(d) of the CVC says the light transmittance must be 88% if on clear glass and 70 % if on tinted glass. The section also says "clear, colorless and transparent" may be applied.
So to answer your question it is not a point on your record if it is a fix-it ticket but if you got the ticket where you live or work and you get stopped again by the same agency for tinted windows the second time it probably will not be a fix-it ticket and then it goes on your record. Legally you can't tint front windows in CA without a doctors note or you change the glass to tinted.
I know because I have gotten my share of tickets including tinted windows and now I write tickets.

Reason: spelling error

Ca law also states that out of state vehicles, from states that allow tinting must comply with CA's tinting laws. So If you are from out of state and can have your front windows tinted you can get a ticket in CA for having the front windows tinted.
I can only talk about my area which is at the Nevada border, which allows tinted front windows. My office, the local CHP and the local PD do not write out of state cars for CA laws concerning equipment items that are legal in their home state. I've been doing this for better than sixteen years and have never heard of out of state vehicle having to comply with CA equipment laws, but that does not mean it's not true. I will have to do some checking into it.
does anybody know what stock tint is on a 01 150? I want to tint the front windows on my wife's supercrew but I want it to match the back windows.
thanks
