So after being told that my truck has a SMF and 45k miles later I believe I do have a DMF. I've always an annoying grinding noise while idling through a parking lot in gear. I guess I thought it was always the DP hitting something.

Well now that its getting warmer out I've been driving the stroker more I think I finally developed the classic rocks in the box sound. I think this is clearly pointing to the possibility of a DMF. My DP might be hitting the firewall/transmission... but I don't think it would sound like the "rocks." Any ideas?

This is probably a good thing since I'm getting close to a tuner finally so I can light my turbo for once and lord knows the stock clutch would not take that kind of abuse.

So my question is does anyone have a picture of the DMF through the inspection plate?

Thanks for the picture. Reps sent. Is the inspection cover on the bottom or side? I haven't crawled under the truck in awhile and can't remember off the top of my head.

The inspection cover is on the bottom under the flywheel. Just a thin piece of sheet metal.

Farm, I can't wait till you get a chip. You will be on fire. I will be able to hear you from here. And yes the stock clutch will not last two or three launches, trust me on this one. You will be very pleased with the way it pulls that 5 er. Mine pulls our 36'er like a dream. Even in the mountains.

From the looks of this it may be time to do a clutch. Don't you wish you would have done it at the same time you did the turbo? Shure woulda made the uppipes a whole lot easier.

I can't wait either!

Here's the deal though... I may be rollin down to Dallas at the end of the month to see my brother. The problem is I won't have any down time between then and now. I'm thinking it should be alright until then...

When I got the tranny out I'm going to redo the firewall around the downpipe and open it up a little bit. I feel that I'm losing too much with my current DP and it's hurting my temps.

I should have done the clutch at the same time... but that would have been even more money lol.

As long as the flywheel does not vibrate too bad you should be fine. Mine slipped even when I accelerated slowly around a car. When the boost picked up is when it slipped. I still drove it on my 2 hour trips back and forth to hame quite a few times. As long as I was driving highway speeds and accelerated slowly it ran fine.

When you do the firewall try to put a 4" pipe in there. You will be miles ahead if you do.

I know what you mean about that being even more money. When I did my H2e I had to do clutch, then I neededtubes and I wanted intakes to go with the H2e and I needed...
I had to say STOP! I ran out of money. I needed elec fuel at the time but was able to squeeze thestock bowl in there (barely) I also need big oil but some things just have to wait.

Mines not slipping.. but the rock sound went away today. I'm gonna order the clutch and tuner at the same time.

I think I'm going to go with the 4 inch. I just wish I knew whats directly behind the firewall. I plan on taking the plasma torch and cutting out a decent section big enought for the pipe. The floor board will be cake, but the room is needed straight back from the valve cover as well...
