Thinking about a non intercooled rebuild

The 05' non intercooled 5.4 has about 111,xxx miles on it, and by no means has ever been babied. It has been clicking here and there all over in the motor for about 4-5 months, still seems to run o.k.

I have been able to note a slight lack of power from about 10-25k miles ago, or maybe my memory just dosnt serve me so well. But it dosnt sound well and just to name a few things that have been done to it, it for some reason had the air cleaner dissconeced from the intake tube for propably 3 months about a year ago. Also it ran with 2x the oil it needed for about 300-500 miles (thanks local oil changer company).

It has also been used as somewhat of a ranch truck for most of its life. Oh yah its also seen more than its fare share of snow and water through the air cleaner. (set the fix me light off maybe 10 times)

So from what little i know about engines, I would reccon that it might ***** the bed on me any time. I figured I better get my stuff together for a rebuild. I want to add a bit of proformance to this truck. MAYBE a 2lb pully, but more on the internal side of things scence it is not intercooled. Would a Cam and Forged pistons maybe work? I want to maybe quease an extra 50hp out of this thing w/o the tune from troyers then add his tune to it and hopfully gain maybe 80-100 with the tune and rebuild.

Other questions i have that you all might be able to help me with include but are not limited to: Can a 100k+ mile tranny take an estimated 500hp? Is 2lbs to much to ad on a non intercooled roush? Because at the end of the day i am still 17 and am still going to hot rod it from time to time, Summer being the best time to do so in my oppion How high of compression can i run and still jam stock to stock +2 lbs of boost down this things throat and keep it from shooting a piston out of the oil pan? Anything else that is preaty vital that i missed would be nice to know too lol

Once again thank all of you for your help and oppions
