Break in pliers

So how does everybody break in a new set of pliers? I like mine so that I can hold one side and let it fall all the way open and then turn it over and have them close. I usually just take WD-40 or Kroil and work them for a few days. What do you guys do?

I'm the same way, Chris... fall open, fall close. But I've found that using WD-40 and the like tends to cause dirt to accumulate, since a lot of the time my pliers are either hanging from my belt or on the floor of my truck, especially my fencing pliers. So, I use a dry graphite powder lubricant to loosen them up with (I have a co-worker at my town job who does locksmithing on the side and gets the stuff by the bucketfuls, but it can be found at most hardware places in those small tubes). I give them a small shot of the stuff, work it back and forth a bit, and then wipe off any excess.

Depending on the joint design, I am sure a little lapping compound would smooth them out.
Slip-joint pliers and Channel Lock/water pump pliers are candidates.
But dikes, long nose, and lineman's have that closed joint so probably wouldn't work for them. Just use em until they loosen up, I guess.
