I have a 96 f350 I checked my fuel pressure and it was a 40psi when i hold the throttle down it drops to about 25psi. I tryed the bb in the fpr but still got the same fuel pressure readings.

What and how are you measuring the fuel pressure? Are you taking it from the schrader valve or port? It should be around 70# at idle and will raise under acceleration.

Your pressure is abit low.
49state 50psi, Cali 70psi idle.
Could be time for a pump.
Check and clean your return screen.
A clean screen removes air from the system.

It is between the FPR and fuel filter housing. Take out the two 10mm bolts holding on the FPR. No need to undo any hoses, and carefully pull the FPR away from the filter housing. The screen is inside a little port. Mine was completely clogged, cleaning it made a world of difference. But be careful not to drop any of the parts in the valley of death. I dropped screen in there twice, found it the first time and had to buy a new one the second time.

Is that the same screen that is recommended to clean with a (Q-tip cotton removed) when changing the fuel filter?

well that would be the screen but no need for cleaning it every filter change. I filled a cap with lacguer thinner and soaked the screen in that. Worked amazing.

I haven't changed my fuel filter yet, so just wanted to clarify the best way to clean the screen. I'll just try and determine how dirty it is and go from there, as to weather I take of the FPR. I am assuming that there are no gaskets to replace?

Yes, same screen. It only gets clogged on the filter side so there is no real need to remove the FPR.

Sorry about hi jacking this thread, but now it seams like the originator may have solved his problem backwards, and may need to change fuel filter.
