Transmission Shop

I took my truck to a transmission shop on monday. The previous saturday i was loaded up heading out of town and the the tempature gauge spiked to the top all of a sudden. Then it started shifting hard. The truck has always had a bucking problem whenever it gets into overdrive. Now it is going on into thursday and the shop is claiming its just the temp sensor. Anyone think it could be that simple?

the bucking problem could be a buggered egr. unless the temp stayed up i'd guess sensor too, its not really possible for the temp to spike up and back down, in a short period of time.

more info please. whats the year of the truck? how many miles? were you hauling a trailer when the temp spiked? that factory temp sensor has 2 settings.... cold and hot.
