Depends on your state. In mine, you go to the DMV and they issue a new VIN for the vehicle and you rivet it to the door frame. I would think you would need the titles to both trucks, or at least a bill of sale for the donor truck.

Take out the donor's VIN and put the original VIN back on it. Most states get VINs from the frame.

If you have paperwork for both vehicles, it is the safe bet to just have the motor vehicle division assign some sort of new identification. This will prevent the truck form looking as if it was tampered with. If you get pulled over and the officer sees that this number appears to be tampered with, your ride will get impounded and you will have to explain all of this anyway.
Now, I cant tell you how to get the sticker off of the door jamb, but a little heat from a heat gun can make this a fairly easy chore. Again, I am not explaining how to perfrom this, but if I were doing this, I would make sure that you install the new tag on the door jamb before the thing cools down. Keep it warm, and warm the door jamb itself as you apply the sticker back on.
Other methods have been to trim the clear sticker around the paper label, and then re-apply a new coating of clear by using some laminant material found in office supply stores. Never done this before myself, cough, cough.........
Now, the warranty plate on the door, can be removed by pinching the aluminum rivet nside of the door. After a few, you an get real good at this, and you can remove them and re-use them. This factory rivet has a different appearance, and using a regular old rivet gives a modified look. Using the original keeps it looking as if it was original.
Again, I have no experiance in this area, cough, cough......

In this case, you can probably get by and never get cought, but if you have luck like mine, it might be easier just to conform to the law from the beginning.
