Stock dash bezel

I was wondering if a 53 f100 dash bezel could be cleaned up and polished to a somewhat shiny look? I have one I just got with a dash panel and gauges I bought. It is in better shape then the one in my truck now. Just would like for it to look close to polished aluminum ones.

If they're metal, it can be polished. If it's too hard to polish, you can always cut a piece of polished aluminum to fit over it...

I should have asked this with the first question. If a nice polish is achieved, what could be used on it to protect it?
