I currently have an 01 excursion which i love. My girlfriend and i are upgrading are mercedes S-class to either a 2003 expedition eddie bauer or a 2003 navigator. Is there anything we should be looking for when purchasing these vehicles?? The 2003 Navigator has 70k on it and there asking 10.9 OBO. the expedition has 100k and there asking 11k but they seem like they would take much less then the navigator guy. Any helpful hints? I have read the navigator running boards have problems as well as the air suspension. I'm going tomorrow to get 1 or the other so any help would be great. Thanks again.
I woulnt pay more than 10K for the Navi in this economy. But for 10K your getting a vehicle that stickered for $60K. Buying ones 7 years old - they are so cheap either way you might as well spend the couple extra dollars to have the Navi.
You get a nicer interior, a slightly better engine (at least one that doesnt blow out park plugs!) and some other luxury touches. As far as reliability, overall it should be slightly lower than the Expy simply due to it having more stuff. Parts are about the same for either as they share many components and are essentailly the same vehicle except one is way more optioned.
Ended up not buying anything. Neither party would come down in price very much so i said **** it. Still searching. Test drive a beautiful 03 eddie bauer expo which was georgous, could only imagine what the nav is like
I'd go for the Navi. Price difference should only be a few hundred dollors, but you get alot more in my opinion. Particularly in that model year, a 4-valve motor in the Navi vs 2-valve in the Expy.
An FYI on buying, almost anytime you can deal with an internet sales department at a new/used dealer, you're gonna get a better deal from them, than if you just walk on the lot and deal with one of the lot vultures.
