I am going to put new weatherstripping on my 1965 f-350 and have some questions.First I was told to clean off the new rubber with alcohol or laquer thinner. Which one is better? Next I was told to use 3M black weatherstrip adhesive. Has anyone used this product? I know for a fact that the yellow adhesive is hard to work with because it gets stringy.Is there any other product to use for adhering the rubber to the metalthat would be better than the 3M? Any other tricks?Thanks for any input you may have!!

You have to try to see what works better for removing the old stuff. Over the years there were changes in the glue used but alcohol is cheaper but I would ber you will need lacquer thinner.
ALL weatherstrip glues are stringy .... yellow or black. Just use what is needed, don't go crazy. If you used too little you can always go back and add a bit more.
