hello everybody... I have a 95 F150 4X4 with a lil built up 302... the tranny i have is an AOD-E with a B&M shift plus, and heavy duty clutches... I cooked it! haha what do you suggest i do? I need a stall for the cam i have chosen but the cam is rated for a 2800 to 3000 stall, the only problem with havn the AOD-E is when it shifts into overdive with that high of a stall, i was told it will go into limp... what should i do?! get rid of the AOD-E and throw in an AOD? E4OD? and what should i do for a build? I was quoted at for my AOD-E with a stage to shift kit, 2600 stall, and HD clutches for around $2200... would that be strong enough?
Beats me, I always give these links, suggest you read the propaganda and consult with a supplier. Seems the 4R70W guts in the AOD case along with selected beefier bits is the way to go. Not sure on the TC for your application.
yeah the shop i got my quote from said to get a TCI AOD for my truck but thats a lil pricey. the guy said around $6000 will get me the tranny... thanks for the input. oh or would switchin out the auto and throwin in a 5 or 6 speed manual be a decent idea? haha just a thought, alot of work but yeah..

$6000? Go to the TCI site, they quote prices there. $2200 or so, $3400 for an E4OD IIRC. I'll get you two AODs for $6000......
yeah i looked at the site... i think the guy must have been a little off.. i think i might go with the tci tranny with the streetfigher or w/e converter... that should do good haha
I went through 3 "pro built trannys " when i was draggin. then i went with the tci street fighter and a 3200 stall, in the 700r4. I know a chebby tranny, but i raced many seasons with the tci and no probs they get my business right outa the gate now. I did have one problem with a TC cracken and ruint a tranny. They paid for all new and the r&r. so I feel they are a stand up company with great products and customer service.
If it's an F150 parts truck, and is OEM, it is a Mazda trans. F250 and up for the ZF. Mazda trans might be iffy in your application. Ratios good, strength ?
