I have found trough traveling the inventory at Fastenal varies depending on the store manager. You can find almost anything on there site and they will order it for you. Another spot I am sure some of you are aware of is www.mcmastercarr.com . The site is very easy to use and they ship the same day in most cases.

here are the pics as to how my bed is mounted. the curve in the frame is compensated for with a spacer at the front. this method has had over a ton loaded on it, no problem. (yes, one ton on an f100 with stock suspension.)

I used to drive a stake truck that had a 14' bed on it, along with some other flat bed trucks and everyone i've ever seen looks to me to have wood inbetween the frame and the bed to take the space up. Now I dont think its just some crappy pine...But its certainly wood.
