Air Cleaner

I just bought a performance air cleaner to put on my 1971 f-100. It has a 360 with a 4 speed manual tranny. There are 2 hoses that come from the original air cleaner, one goes to the valve cover cap and one goes to a canisterdown by the radiator. What is the canister? I have no idea.

most likely one of those gas tank vapor vent systems. its a candy *** government idea to eliminate the fumes that must vent from a gas tank. some people have em, some dont, my gas cap has a pressure relief on it to the atmosphere. even though 18 wheeler tractor trailers burn diesel all day straight into the air with no catalytic converter.

Fuel vapor (plastic) cannister.

Thanks a bunch, can I it off and cap the hole? The new air cleaner that I have isn't made for that hose to go into it. Do away with the hose?

Don't worry about capping it, just toss the hose.

I'm new to this web site and may be messing up. If so pls. excuse this error. I am looking at a 1976 FORD F-100 2Wd 360/c-6 POSI TRACT REAR and have a couple questions regarding this truck. Did this vehicle come with an option for front disc brakes? Is this the twin I beam front suspension? Is the rear end the traditional FORD 9" WITH 28 SPLINE AXLES? tHE PROSEPECT IS IN THE pHILIPPINES AS i AM. very strange place to live. Is this 360 a bore out 252? of old FE fame?
