Hi all. My steering wheel has become off center as i am driving as it is always turned toward the right even when i am going straight. anything i can do to fix this as it is annoying me.....
Dont intend for this to sound sarrcastic. But if you havent done it already check your front tire pressures. Drove mine off the lot in jan and had the same issue. Would have though it was inspected before i bought it. Come to find out the front tires were running at half the pressure. I had the dealer i bought it from and his service manager and after tire pressure was adjusted it only pulled do to the incline of the hwy.
Good idea but mine does not pull. The steering wheel is just turned about a quarter of the way to the right. but i just went and checked my pressure to make sure......Tires cost entirely to much...
I wouldn't adjust a thing. If your wheel recently just went off of center something broke, or wore out. Yes it is pretty easy to get the wheel back to center but if I where you I'd triple check that everything on the front end is healthy.
If your spline slipped, have no clue why, you can remove the shaft from the steering box and adjust it. My wheel is about 2 degrees to the left, I plan on adj it this summer
Can you tell me how to do that with the box and spline.... it has not always been like that just seems to get alittle worse with passing time...the front end lookis good, nothing loose or such. i was wondering if it could be the steering stabalizer...
If you see nothing wrong and it keeps getting worse over time take it to a professonal. A problem with steering is not something to take lightly, something has to be wrong and possibly on the verge of failure. A failure in the steering sysytem on any vehicle is very dangerous, needless to say.
if your truck is a 4x4 there is an adjustable collar on the link connecting the pitman arm to the tie rod that can be adjusted to center the steering wheel, ive had to adjust several after replacing steering gear boxes, the only adjustments on the gear box is for mesh, like if you had loosness in the wheel, the steering shaft is splined and only goes on one way.

sounds like a start....when it comes to steering i am an dummy. can you tell me where it is exactly. think ill try that tonight when i get home.
the link runs from the pitman arm (on the steering gear box) to the tie rod, the collar has two locking straps that have bolts that you need to loosen and a bar that runs between the two straps that u need to loosen and slide out of the way, spray a lil wd-40 on the collar and use a pipe wrence or adjustable pliers to rotate it while someone sits in the driver seat and watches the wheel, it wont take much to center it
