150 speed sensor info

Can anybody tell me if the speed sensor that is in with the speedo cable at the G/box end on a 90 F150 that had EFI 351 registers speed or just motion

The signal looks like a sine wave and the frequency increases with speed.
It's used for the cruise control.

Now my 150 has never had cruise what bits do I need to get to get to work
