i want slightly larger tires and maintain near factory ride, and I've read great results with the Fabtech 3.5 lift. Then I ran into the RCD Suspension 2" leveling kit. Now I'm torn. I plan on upgrading to Bilsteins all around.
Does anyone have personal experience with the leveling kit on an Excursion?
And also, do you recommend steering stabilizers (one or 2 shock)?
I have a 2002 7.3l and tow a 5k boat. I'd like 33s or larger offroad look tires. (I'm looking at Mickey Thompson rims and Toyo tires)
Your EX came with a factory-installed "stablizer" on your steering cross-tube. If you are getting "back-feel" thru your steering wheel when going "off-road" you might want to disconnect it and see if it is still providing the required resistance.
As for "leveling" with heavy loads, my preference is for air-bags. you can control your riding height with air pressure. That way, you can have the stock riding height when empty or with light loads, without the rougher ride stiffer springs give you. And still get the factory riding height with heavy loads, with a quick "shot" of air pressure.
That is a 12 volt "cigar" type outlet at the right rear inside corner is great for operating a small air compressor. Handy for all kinds of things.
