egr valve replacement

Thanks guys for the help you gave me on diagnosing my smoking and antifreeze smell on my 06 f450.I wanted to get a idea what my problem was before i went to the dealer.The dealer replaced the egr valve and the cooler unit that was cracked flushed the cooling system and replaced it with new antifreeze.The job cost me only the 100.00 dollar deutable the motor is still under warranty the dealer told me the job would be 1,700.00 if the truck was out of warranty.The truck only has 30,000 miles on it is this a common thing with the 6.0 i got about two more years on the motor warente.After the warente is up would it be a good idea to eliminate the egr vale and cooler.Thanks for the help

if it becomes a common issue with your motor have them check your oil cooler. sometimes when it gets clogged it will cause the seams on the egr cooler to leak.
