Everyone's ability is different. However, swapping out a bad starter is not hard at all.
Gasoline Engines
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the front of the truck and install jackstands beneath the frame. Firmly apply the parking brake and place blocks in back of the rear wheels.
3. Tag and disconnect the wiring at the starter.
4. If necessary, turn the front wheels fully to the right. On some later models it will be necessary to remove the frame brace.
5. Remove the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter.
Depending on the height of the truck...you may not need to jack it up.
