Shifter Problems
my buddy has a 2001 250 4x4 with the 7.3 and automatic, lately when you shift into park it doesnt seem to be locking in, the truck started rolling, then it wont start sometimes unless you put it in neutral, so is this a bushing problem or is it the park interlock?

On my 2001 F-250 4x4, I removed the lower steering column panel to access under the dash. I found two torx screws that attach a bracket to the steering column shifter to the transmission cable loose. I tightened those and fixed almost all the excess play and shifting problems. There is supposed to be a thumb wheel on the cable and an adjustment procedure for properly aligning the shift pointer according to the ford shop manual, but I could not find the wheel on my cable. Hope this is not too confusing and helps.
